Made in Canada: Published, printed and bound in Canada (Proudly)

As an author and publisher, I’ve always cared about creating books that inspire young readers. Over the years, my journey with Amabel Books has changed in many ways, but one of the biggest shifts came in 2023 when I made the decision to move my books back to being printed in Canada.

My journey with printing began in 2014 when I had my books printed in Winnipeg. Unfortunately, the printing company I was using closed, at this time I chose to move to offshore printing. While this was more cost-effective, it never really sat right with me. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted my books to be made closer to home—supporting Canadian businesses, ensuring top-quality craftsmanship, and reducing the environmental impact of overseas shipping.

In 2023, I made the move, obtaining Canadian quotes and signing a deal to print 100% in Canada. Moving forward since 2023 new print runs of Amabel Books titles have been proudly published, printed, and bound in Canada. Some remaining stock from previous offshore printings will still be in circulation as we transition fully to Canadian production.

As of 2023 Amabel Books can also display the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) logo on the covers, signifying commitment to responsible forestry practices. This means that not only are Amabel Books made in Canada, but they also support sustainable and ethical sourcing of materials.

Seeing my newest titles—Just a Smile (2nd edition) and The Giant Pumpkin—marked as "Made in Canada" makes me proud. To everyone who has supported Amabel Books, thank you. I look forward to expanding my collection with more titles, all proudly marked "Made in Canada."
